Unknown Cobblestone Structures

Editor's Note: When compiling an all encompassing and detailed library of all North American cobblestone structures in the Cobblestone Info Base it is inevitable that documentation or images are found that remain unknown for whatever reason, despite our efforts to identify and/or locate the structures. Because of the interest and research done at least from the 1940s, virtually all existing and many no longer existing buildings have been identified; therefore, some of these structures more likely will be determined to no longer exist. Following are those structures with what information is known.

Please do not hesitate to contact the Cobblestone Museum if you have suggestions, corrections, information and/or images pertaining to an unknown cobblestone structure.

Unknown Structure 1:

"The Midbury House is near Lyons also." states Dorothy Wells Pease on page 28 of her paper "The Cobblestone Houses of Upstate New York" 1941. This short statement and a Pease Collection photograph labeled "Midbury, Lyons Township, Wayne Cty." are the only known evidence of this structure.

Editor's Note: As of 6/24/2022 the entire Cobblestone Info Base had been reviewed and no match to this structure was found. Searches of Town of Lyons information have not found any match to the name Midbury; however, possible name variations Medberry and Medbery have been found, yet nothing to link these names to this or any cobblestone structure has been found. Co-editor Karen Crandall did a deep dive into genealogy and published documentation of the Town of Lions and adjoining Towns and found no association with a cobblestone structure.

There are a few no longer existing structures that possibly might be this structure, but to-date 6/25/2022 there is not enough information available for these structures to make any decisions.
